Basic guide for deploying foreman on aws ec2

Hi all
I’m new to foreman, my companys services all run on aws. I’ve got a little time to learn the tools that we use and I’m trying to figure out how to use foreman to provision instances on ec2.

I’ve got an ec2 instance running rocky linux with foreman installed and working. I can connect foreman to aws using credentials, this works. It’s the next few steps that I need help with.

If someone has a little time to write a short step by step guide I’d be most appriciative or even to point me in the right direction. I can find much documentation on the subject, even the few guides on the foreman website assume a lot of knowledge and dont quite explain everything.

I’m running the latest version of foreman nightly. Rocky 8.
I’ve added two os’s on another ec2 instance to use a iso sources. I’ve also created a rocky ami to use as my image got new ec2 instances.

Thanks so much,

Hi and welcome to the forum

I don’t use provisioning to EC2 myself, but the new docs have a section about that in the provisioning guide. Maybe this (and the whole document in general) might help. The new docs are still somewhat hard to find, so I thought you might not know about them.

Thanks very much, I’ll go through them now, appreciate the help
