Fedora FESCO meeting about SCL today 6PM UTC

Hello,

today there is Fedora FESCO meeting about SCL in Fedora. We rely on
SCL heavily and it would be good to see this in Fedora which could help
us to stabilize this moving target and also be more effective when
building for new Fedora releases.

Currently, I am looking for two things:

  1. Throw in arguments here in this list why SCL is important to us. So
    far I have identified:
  • Our users (mainly admins) avoid Fedora generally (in favor of RHEL6 or
clones). This could increase usage of Fedora for our project. I see
this as a major point, because users who want to use our project free
of charge and are not subscribers of Red Hat have no other choice on
Red Hat systems than go for RHEL clones.

  • Fedora is moving target for us. We need to compare and rebuild
everything from scratch which is taking some time. Not saying this is
a bad thing, but we have no other choice. It's this or nothing.

There are couple of drawbacks (longer support periods for Fedora
releases), but the goal would be to support the idea of having SCL in
Fedora.

  1. Join the meeting today at 6PM UTC at Freenode #fedora-meeting-1 and
    present arguments for SCL.

Thanks!
