Foreman 1.4.0-RC1 now available

The Foreman team is proud to announce our first release candidate for
Foreman 1.4, now available for immediate download!

Key features:

  • compute profiles
  • image user data support
  • interface enhancements
  • web UI Kerberos support
  • plugin registration
  • new DNS, DHCP, Puppet proxy providers

  1. Some plugins aren't compatible with 1.4 yet
    e.g. foreman_bootdisk, foreman_discovery and foreman_setup. We'll be
    working this week to provide updated packages for these to fix the
    incompatibilities.

  2. VMware compute resource generates unknown VMODL type AnyType (Debian)
    Bug #3931: compute resource vmware generates unknown VMODL type AnyType after upgrade to 1.3.2 - Foreman

  3. Incorrect compute resource types are displayed
    Bug #3867: Wrong Compute Resource type shown on overview - Foreman

  4. Some content in the 1.4 manual needs updating

Thank you to everyone who's toiled over the past few weeks, days and
hours so we could ship RC1 nearly on time. Thanks too to Jason, who
stepped in to do the release itself.

It didn't have everything we had hoped, but there are some fine features
none the less, and it's a solid update.

Hopefully we can wrap this up in time for FOSDEM.
