Hi all,
Dmitri Dolguikh (witlessb) will be doing a deep dive into the newer parts
of the Smart Proxy, on Tuesday 19th Jan at 4pm GMT. The agenda is
- Overview of proxy plugins and plugin providers
- Validators
- Events & event reporting
As usual, I'll be watching Q&A and IRC for questions, so do watch live if
you have smart proxy questions you'd like to put to Dmitri. If you can't
make it, the recording will be posted here afterwards.

See you then!
Cheers

Pre-show question:
could I use smart-proxy to install a Foreman at GCE, and pxe boot my
machines from it at multiple localities?
Thanks!

The Deep Dive series really aims to dig into the code in order to assist
new devs working on parts of the codebase that they may be unfamiliar with.
As this question is (I think) purely a user-support ine, this may be
off-topic for the deep dive, but I'll try to give you an answer here
instead
IIRC PXE is a local-network-only protocol - you need something on the same
network as the booting machine in order to reply to it's boot requests.
Thus, if your architecture is
Foreman on GCE <— network —> smart-proxy <— local network —>
booting host
Then yes, I don't see why that would work. If not, you'd need to give more
detail of what you're trying to do. I'd suggest starting a new thread on
this mailing list though, so we can keep this thread for the deep dive.
Thanks!

Are there any plans on given such talk/demos to the users? IMHO, it'll be
very beneficial for the users to see different ways building out Foreman
infrastructure and consuming its services.
Good question. I've been planning a Foreman Beginner's Guide series for
YouTube for a while. Now that 1.10 is here, I can start recording it. The
first few episodes will be focussed on getting a basic stack set up, and
looking at some common plugins, but after that, I'll be taking suggestions
for episodes. I think that'd be a perfect fit for something like what you
suggest. I'll make a note of it, thanks!

We've had to move this to 2pm tomorrow due to a technical issue - sorry for
the short notice!
We've just concluded this recording, you can find the video on our YouTube
