Hello,
We use Katello at our work place to manage puppet and software collections, currently the instance runs on 8vcpus and 32Gb of memory but its dogging it badly. For an environment of between 100~130 servers what does the group feel would be the right spec machine to handle this load? What would be the best way to migrate this instance to another machine, backup and restore or ?
Thanks for any tips

can you identify how the load is distributed? I would imagine the above
spec should be more then fine, unless you have a lot of IO operations (when
handling content views)?

Its hard to discern really - for content management the system only has about 10 hosts associated with it, on the ENC side I have two slave puppet masters which talk back to KT for a total of 61 odd hosts under management at the moment with a plan to expand this to the full fleet. I should probably mention I am on Katello 2.0 It seems from looking at TOP that mongodb and elastic search are taking up most of the memory. Right now the UI is completely unresponsive which makes it about as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle. I am trying to upgrade to KT 2.1 but that will take some time whilst I take the necessary backups.
On the other hand I have a vanilla foreman install managing about 160 hosts and its humming along nicely - similar spec which makes me think this is a KT specific problem not a Foreman issue per se.
