Whenever i ran ‘schedule remote job’ i’m seeing status in pending. From /var/log/foreman-proxy/smart_proxy_dynflow_core.log

Hi,
the 403 in smart proxy dynflow core logs usually hints to some certificate issue. What most likely is going on is that the smart proxy dynflow core tries to report back to foreman after the script is actually executed, but the callback is rejected by Foreman.

Is this completely stock installation or do you use custom certs?

I didn’t use custom certs. Below are the steps i followed to install remote execution

  1. yum install tfm-rubygem-foreman_remote_execution tfm-rubygem-foreman_remote_execution_core tfm-rubygem-foreman-tasks tfm-rubygem-foreman-tasks-core rubygem-smart_proxy_dynflow tfm-rubygem-smart_proxy_dynflow_core rubygem-smart_proxy_remote_execution_ssh

  2. sudo -u foreman-proxy ssh-keygen -f ~foreman-proxy/.ssh/id_rsa_foreman_proxy -N ‘’
    (Verified keys are working fine)

  3. In /etc/smart_proxy_dynflow_core/settings.yml, commented line with port 3000 and added the foreman server url

#:foreman_url: ‘http://localhost:3000’

:foreman_url: ‘https://foremanserver’

  1. Restart the services
    systemctl restart httpd
    systemctl restart foreman-tasks
    systemctl restart foreman-proxy
    systemctl restart smart_proxy_dynflow_core

  2. Refreshed features under Infrastructure > Smart Proxies

Is there a particular reason why you didn’t use the installer? It seems you didn’t configure the ssl certificates at all. They should be configured in /etc/smart_proxy_dynflow_core/settings.yml, a good rule of the thumb is to configure them the same way as for the foreman proxy itself (/etc/foreman-proxy/settings.yml)

First of all thank you very much for providing the fix and pointing me to the certs in /etc/foreman-proxy/settings.yml!!

It is working now after adding the right foreman_ssl_* certs in /etc/smart_proxy_dynflow_core/settings.yml.

I’m new to foreman and thought installer would make changes to the existing foreman setup and went with the manual steps.

Glad to hear you got it working. Yeah, the installer does changes all over the place, but usually everything works afterwards :slight_smile:
