I am attempting to install and use foreman_slack on foreman 1.16. I’ve installed the plugin
[root@foreman-dev]# gem install foreman_slack
And restarted foreman foreman-proxy and httpd. However I can’t see the /settings tab “Slack” that is mentioned.
Is there a way to list plugins installed to see if it’s just not seeing it?
You can list plugins on the About > Plugins page to check if it’s loading at all.
The original author of the Slack plugin, Shlomi, hasn’t been active for quite a while - the repo hasn’t seen commits since last year. @Ori_Rabin do you know how to ping him? Even if it’s just to confirm the plugin is in need of a new maintainer…
Shlomi is looking at open prs on the plugin but I’ll reach out to see if we can add another maintainer.

Sure nuff, not there. I didn’t think to check that the plugin might be to old to be compatible with 1.16.
For what it’s worth, the plugin does work in 1.15.1; (I should really upgrade…)
Perhaps I installed incorrectly, the method I used was “gem install foreman_slack” after adding the file to bundles.d.
It seemed to install the correct files but nothing showed after restarted foreman/proxy/httpd/etc.
Straight gem install generally won’t work - see section 2.3 of Foreman :: Plugin Manuals for OS-specific install instructions.
Im having issues with this plugin on 1.17.1.

That plugin hasn’t been updated in a while. I wonder if it could be implemented through foreman_hooks as well.

Thanks for this hint. Now I’m using foreman_hooks and their python example config_report/after_create to report failed puppet runs and runs with high number of changes.slackclient to send the message simply with this
