Host group and enviroment class assignments - what's the order of precendence?

A host can belong to a host group and an environment.
A host group can also belong to an environment.
A host group can also be nested and the child can have a different environment.
Is there documentation on precedence if these differ?

Host groups and environments can have classes assigned. If a host is
in an environment and a host group,
and the assignment of classes is different between the environment and
the host group, is there any documentation on which should take
prececence?

I'm working some of this out from trial and error but I'm deeply
concerned that this is not documented and may change.
It seems to have already changed between 0.3 and 0.4

thanks Betsy

Hi Betsy,

The classes assigned to an environment represent the list of available
classes in that environment, rather than an exact assignment. Once a
host or hostgroup is placed in an environment, you will only be able
to assign classes from the environment's list of classes.

Hope that helps,
Greg
