the DBA at the company that I work wants to remove index from the sources
and messages table to evaluate some performance issues that we are
having… should I be concerned with this change?

since many times you get the same messages, we dont store multiple copies
of that (so its easier to search etc).
removing the index would cause longer time to parse the report, will
probably not break anything, but you might see longer puppet runs because
it takes longer for foreman to process the reports…
