Awesome, let me know how it goes. One thing to keep in mind is that that setting in katello.yaml will get wiped out if you re-run the installer, i opened Bug #31808: move pulp bulk_load_size SETTING to a Setting - Katello - Foreman to move this setting into the database for easier control (no need to restart services). I imagine if/when you get this to faster disks you’ll see an improvement too.
