[Katello 2.2] Update RHEL Key Count - not working

Hi @all,

I´m operating katello and synched all necessary RHEL repos and have a manifest in place. Prior to using katello with pulp as repo our servers were registered with Red Hat directly now I want to register all server against katello and here is my problem.

Although I´ve unregistered all servers with rhel and the keys / licenses are available in my rhel customer portal I can´t update the key count in katello. I´ve registered one rhel host against katello and the available key is now in use but the "free" keys are not shown and not updated although I´ve updated the manifest several times.

Any help how to fix this behavior ? Or do I have to delete my manifest and upload it again?

Unregistering from Red Hat will make any subscriptions available there. You will need to go add these subscriptions to the distributor[1] you downloaded the previous manifest from. At that point you may either use the "Refresh Manifest" button on the manage manifest UI page in katello, or you may download the manifest again and load it directly. At that point the new subscriptions will be available for content hosts registered to katello.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi Tom,

I already did that and it seems to work properly. Now I´m facing an issue that a content host, which was registered with the wrong activation key, consums a license it is not supposed to use. I have unregistered that host and re-registerd with the correct key, but the consumed license is still shown as in use by that dedicated host.

Is it possible to remove that host from that key?

Were there errors during unregister? If the content host is gone from katello but the subscription is still shown as consumed, then one of two things could be happening:

  1. The content host still exists in candlepin (the subscription tool). In this case there would be an error somewhere in the logs, either katello's or candlepin's.

  2. The subscription counts displayed are wrong due to elasticsearch (the search tool) not being up to date. Running 'foreman-rake katello:reindex' would correct things if this is the case.
