Katello 5.0.0 is now generally available!

This release includes a redesigned Content Credentials page, which is now fully supported outside of Labs, container gateway support for containerized Smart Proxies, and DEB support in the Host Details Traces tab.

Katello 5.0 also brings PatternFly 5 updates to the Subscriptions pages, support for RHEL 10 content signed with ML-DSA, improved errata application tracking, and performance improvements for large deployments, host collection updates, and host registration.

For full details, see the Katello 5.0 Release Notes and the Katello CHANGELOG on GitHub.

Before you upgrade

  • Enterprise Linux 10 is supported only for containerized deployments managed with foremanctl. RPM-based installations continue to run on Enterprise Linux 9. There is currently no migration path from an RPM-based Enterprise Linux 9 installation to a containerized Enterprise Linux 10 installation. If you use an RPM-based installation, remain on Enterprise Linux 9 until migration guidance is available.
  • The deprecated content_view_id and lifecycle_environment_id API parameters have been removed from the hosts, activation keys, and host groups endpoints. Update API clients and scripts to use content_view_environment_id.
  • The displayMessage field in Katello API error responses has been renamed to message. Update any scripts or integrations that parse this field.
  • Host groups now use a single content view environment instead of separate content view and lifecycle environment fields. Before upgrading, review host groups that set only one of these fields or rely on inheritance to combine them. Each explicitly configured host group should assign both fields, and its content view must be promoted to the assigned lifecycle environment.
  • Dependency solving is now disabled by default for incremental content view updates. Re-enable it if you need to apply new errata to very old content views.
