Katello setup after Foreman already in production

Hi all,

We are using Foreman very heavily in production. In fact, we just
completed a major RHEL 6 migration of all of our HPC clusters (over 1100
servers) in under 5 days, having all systems back in production. A real
success story for Foreman!

I am now looking into introducing Katello into our environment to start
managing our content repos, rather than standard yum repos.

Is it possible to host Katello on a separate server, and have Foreman and
Katello work together? I have done some quick searches on integration, but
have found most information to be about installing both tools on the same
machine.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Chuck

Hello,

this is great news, please make sure you are listed at:

if possible.

This is the scenario I'd recommend for now. Katello project is currently
being modified heavily to live as a Foreman plugin, but if you intend to
start using Katello in production, it would be good idea to go for the
latest Katello stable:

http://www.katello.org/katello-1-4-released/

This version still works as a separate engine.

There is a plugin that add some first tier integration into Foreman (you
can select activation keys in the Foreman GUI and tie them to Host
Groups), but I think this will not work with Foreman 1.3+. Ivan, correct
me if I am wrong, but I guess this code will be superseded by the
Katello as a plugin:

You can start with plain Katello and integrate content manually. Tighter
integration is of course planned for future versions (e.g. operating
systems vs promoted content).

Also subscribe to the katello mailing list where you can ask
Katello-specific questions.
