[katello] task stuck pending with nothing to do

Hi,

After working some more with katello 2.0 we are having some issues with
tasks getting stuck and blocking other stuff.
Our test environment is quit slow on diskIO so things get a bit slow.

What I have now is that the scheduled repo sync task didn't continue
overnight.

It says "ForemanTasks::lock::LockConflict: Required lock is already
taken by other running tasks. Please inspect their state, fix their
errors and resume them."

But when I look at the task that has the lock, it says "running" but
with output "No new packages". The only choice I have is "Force Unlock"

Met vriendelijke groet, With kind regards,

Hi Jorick,

My guess is that something is going on with your pulp install. Do you
see any errors in /var/log/messages?

I see a couple of duplicate key errors in the log, so I guess that's my
bad. I was able to mess up things quite badly and tried fixing it by
modifying things in the database directly.

I'll purge the whole lot and start again. Maybe I'll reproduce the way I
broke it so I can document it better and file a bug if needed.

TY,

Jorick
