Multiple VMs provision

Hi All,

We have installed foreman server and able to provision the vms using OVirt
Computer resource, really it is very nice tool.

Looking for following options on the foreman.

  1. Option to provision multiple vms by using OVirt template.
  2. as soon as we provision vm from Ovirt template, not able to see the
    given ip and hostname.

Can anyone, please let me know the possibility of above mentioned concerns.

Thank you,
Mahesh K

What you mean by that? You can do this today, see the New Host - VM tab

  • Template option. Unfortunately we cherry-pick only the hardware
profile from the template and do not treat them like full images.

Yes, this is part of this missing feature. For Foreman today, oVirt
template-based provisioning is like any other virtualization
provisioning. We still expect machine to boot from DHCP with the correct
MAC address to do full OS installation.

We have a long-term plan to change that. If you need this ASAP, we
welcome any patches in this regard. See how this works for EC2 or
OpenStack Compute Resources (you can add images there etc).

Hi Lukas,

Thank you for your immediate response, really very happy to see the kind of
information iam getting.

We found foreman is very useful to manage ovirt platform, we are looking
for automation which could apply software's on top of vm ( Created from
Ovirt Template ).

Looking for possibility to spinning up multiple vms with ovirt template in
a single submit action.

Iam sure, my requirements are too high  , kindly suggest.
