Newbie questions - Katello and capsule installation

Hello.

Our company is running critical servers on RHEL6 deployed and maintained
via RH Satellite. With some minor exceptions, these servers are virtualised
using VMware vSphere.

The non-critical part of infrastructure runs on CentOS6, deployed via
Spacewalk. Most of these servers are running on bare metal.

Now with RHEL7 and CentOS7 being out for some time, we are planning to
switch to these versions.

For the RHEL7 part, it has been decided to use the officially supported RH
Satellite.

For the CentOS7 part, we consider to use Katello, but we also consider the
servers running Katello and Capsules to be part of the critical
infrastructure, so we are evaluating the possibility to run Katello and
capsules (used to deploy machines with CentOS) on servers with RHEL7
installed. And the following questions have raised:

****** Is it possible and advisable install and run Katello and capsules on
RHEL7 servers kickstarted from (and remaining to be clients of) the RH
Satellite?

****** How about registration of servers running Katello and capsules with
IPA? Are there any known problems or bad interactions?

Many thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction,

Ed

That should be totally possible. RHEL7 is supported platform, use our
installer to deploy Katello first. If your goal is to use Satellite 6
puppet capabilities to deploy our stuff, that should work too but there
might be dragons as we mostly test via our installer (which calls
puppet locally).

I am not aware of any issues during installation or operation of Foreman
with Katello plugin on a IPA-registered system.

We don't have documented deployments of Foreman on Foreman or Katello on
Katello (Satellite 5 or 6). When this is success, post a report here (or
link to blog post). We'd very much appreciate this.
