Opening up Community Survey data

I’d like to publish some of the raw Community Survey data in addition to my analysis of it. I can think of a few ways to do this, so I’d love to know what people think. Currently my plan is to:

  • Write the usual analysis blogpost covering the graphs/charts/etc
  • Post some of the more interesting free text field data to a separate Discourse topic (eg what should we work on, expansion plans, pain points etc.)
  • Create a directory on downloads.theforeman.org to hold the raw CSV files (anonymised)

This last point just means others can do interesting analysis of their own, or verify my results, should they want to.

Thoughts?

I’ve uploaded the survey data for the past few years, stripped of timestamps and email addresses, to https://downloads.theforeman.org/surveydata - @dLobatog do you have the CSV from 2015?

You can find the code I used to anonymise it on my GitLab account if you’re nosy :stuck_out_tongue:. The same repo contains the draft of the current survey report if you want to have a look at that. It doesn’t render well in the GitLab UI, mind you, you may need to clone and view locally

I’ll post the free text field summaries shortly
