Ovirt - template based provisioning problems

Hi All,

Correct me if I am wrong but I am under impression that I should be able to
deploy new ovirt template based VM's and that newly created VM should use
template's disk as well, similar to template based VM creation in ovirt. Is
that correct?

If so I am hitting a problem with my foreman where VM is created but the
template disk is not cloned for some reason. I am quite new to foreman so
apologies if I am missing something.

I can see similar issue reported over 3 (!) years ago and left without any
update - Bug #3750: Cloning oVirt VMs doesn't create a new disk - Foreman ;/

I am running
ovrit 4.1.4.2
foreman (1.15.0,1,2,3)

Any ideas how to fix this?

Regards,
Tomasz

Hi,

Are you using 'preallocate disk' flag on the template? We have currently
https://github.com/theforeman/foreman/pull/4512 opened, that should
address the issue in this case. Note it needs newer fog: the dependency
bump is in other PR (waiting for merge
https://github.com/theforeman/foreman/pull/4672)

Hi Ivan,

Initial ovirt template has been created using Thin Provision allocation…
