Provisioning setup stuck at "No network interfaces listed in $interfaces fact"

I’m trying to get foreman to work without puppet, and I’m stuck at setting up provisioning.

I understand that I need to add foreman server to the hosts list, which I did.
The first checkbox is okay. The second (smart proxy) was added automatically, and also checks green.

But I’m not sure about the “No network interfaces listed in $interfaces fact”.
I thought that I needed to add network interfaces to the foreman server in “hosts” list, which i did, but it’s still red. I have 2 NICs and 2 bond interfaces…

Am I missing something? Or am I reading the error text wrong?

It’s not 100% clear from your post, but I guess you’re talking about the foreman-setup plugin - that does rely on fact data from Facter, which I guess you won’t have. Happily, the plugin doesn’t do anything that isn’t achievable from other places in the UI, it’s just a nicer workflow.

Can you confirm I’m on the right track? I can let you know the rest of what’s needed - or you can look through the manual on provisioning

Yes, you are right.
I was trying to use foreman-ansible plugin, but looks like it doesn’t collect everything (created a host with half the interfaces, but got the OS right though).

The manual isn’t clear about many things… am I supposed to setup isc-dhcp-server myself, or foreman-installer with the right parametres is going to do it for me?

Running foreman-installer with these options just produces a ton of errors:

With the right parameters (and those look fine to a casual glance) then the installer should do it for you. The errors are interesting - @installer team, any ideas?

If you’re willing, clarifications to the manual are always welcome - we know it’s complex, and new-user feedback on how clear things are is hard to acquire

It could be we don’t properly handle the bond0.1 interface. We do some ugly translations because facter at least used to translate this to ipaddress_bond0_1. Perhaps this has changed with the current facter.

We have introduced the --foreman-proxy-dhcp-pxeserver to explicitly set the IP rather than autodetect this. Please try this and see if it works around your issue.
