Afternoon all,
I've got a slightly strange one with a fresh Foreman install, whereby it
would appear that changes I'm making to the provided Provisioning templates
are being silently reverted…
I'm running Foreman 1.14, installed using Foreman-installer, and have made
a couple of tweaks to the provided 'Kickstart Default Finish' and
'puppet_setup' templates, which are recorded in the template history, along
with a diff of the changes showing the actual changes I made.
However those changes are no longer present in the template…
I've had a look through logs etc, but I'm not seeing anything obvious.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Gavin
Hi Gavin,
The default templates should not be edited in place as they can be overwritten during updates and such. Instead, you should clone the template and make changes to your clone.

Yeh, I did read that upgrades can overwrite them… However no updates or
upgrades have been performed on this installation… So I'm struggling to
understand how they're being reverted…
Cloning the stock ones is fine, however will lead to a lot of sprawl, as
I'll be cloning multiple templates, some just because i've had to clone the
lowest level snippet to edit it…
Cheers
