Red Hat Manifests & Katello/Foreman

Hello,

I am trying to run Ketello / Foreman with a couple of Red Hat workstations
in a testing environment.

I have no option to download my manifest under Subscription Management
Applications in the Red Hat portal.

I opened a support case with Red Hat and was told that they do not support
the upstream Katello and that I must have a satellite subscription.

Is that right? Does Red Hat really not support Katello? How does everyone
else make their subscriptions work?

thanks
John

Under Subscription Management Applications do you see Subscription Asset
Manager Organizations
or Satellite ?

Red hat satellite is a paid subscription based product that uses uses pulp, katello, foreman etc. as source - you can think of it as a custom bundle of katello that is extensively tested. If you want support from red hat for katello you have to purchase satellite and install it from red hat repositories. Licensing RHEL does not get you support for Katello.

Hi under
Subscription Management Applications

Register a New Subscription Asset Manager Organization

Values
Name: anything you want here
Subscription Asset Manager Organization Version: must be 1.4

After you assent manager organization is created attach you subscriptions
and you can now download the manifest and upload into katello

No it is completely empty:

You need to create an organisation under subscription manager organisations, assign licenses to it and then import the manifest.

I think you need the smart management addon on your licenses to see
the *Subscription
Asset Manager Organizations *button, but I'm not sure. Your then be able to
create an organisation and and manifest.

Support should be able to confirm.
