Present: @ekohl (chair/notes), @iballou, @pcreech, @damoore
General
- Now splitting the post in an agenda (which will stay up) and a separate post for the notes. This allows posting the agenda early and still notify people about the final notes.
- New Discourse group @releases which is set to watch Releases - TheForeman and automatically gave trust level 3.
- CentOS CI issues with provisioning new nodes, which affects our ability to run pipelines and thus release.
Foreman 3.8
- Branching in process: Foreman 3.8 branching process
Foreman 3.7
- No updates
Foreman 3.6
- 3.6.2 release in process: Foreman 3.6.2 release process . Blocked on CentOS CI
@Griffin-Sullivan asked about how to get contributors. https://github.com/theforeman/theforeman.org/blob/gh-pages/scripts/release_notes.rb should be used and that should be added to our release instructions.
There was also some confusion about keeping the headline features, upgrade warnings and deprecations in sync. This is about keeping docs.theforeman.org and theforeman.org in sync. So Foreman 3.7 and Katello 4.9 Release Notes and Foreman :: Manual should have the same information for end users. Making docs.theforeman.org the primary documentation source is the RFC about removing the need to duplicate that. It may take a while to get there.
Katello 4.10
- Branching in progress: Katello 4.10 branching process
- katello-agent removal still needs to happen. Next step is to merge https://github.com/theforeman/forklift/pull/1695 and then the installer changes can be merged. Because of the timing or RC1, this is aimed at foreman-installer 3.8.0-rc2.
-
@iballou had a question about package bumping in Katello. Was that always there?
- Add Katello 4.8 and update translation & branch steps · theforeman/tool_belt@2228050 · GitHub added it. It was always needed, but perhaps it was missed in the past.
- Permissions: @damoore lacks Redmine permisisons
- Update Katello release owners permission requirements by ekohl · Pull Request #256 · theforeman/theforeman-rel-eng · GitHub improves the checklist and @ekohl did this for @damoore
Katello 4.9
- 4.9.2 needs to happen. @wbclark will work on that.
Katello 4.8
- 4.8.5 is listed in Redmine, but it’s unlikely to be released given where Katello 4.10 is now. Only if something critical shows up.
