Hi,
As some of you may know I created a mobile app in order to control Foreman while away from a computer. However, some of the strong suits of the mobile app requires that I use my mobile phone or tablet throughout the day .
Since I am at a computer all day I felt like something was missing as I disliked wiping out my mobile phone just to use Remote Admin.
Because of this I have ported the mobile app to the desktop so I can have the best of both worlds. If you have used RemoteAdmin you will notice not much has changed between the mobile and desktop version.
Furthermore, the desktop version will shape how the tablet version will look in the future due to the larger screen size. As always, I enjoy getting your feedback, especially constructive feedback in the form of tickets

The port only took two hours and the result is what I was expecting with a few caveats.
- You lose the desktop feel and gain the mobile UI features but for the desktop. (reverse scrolling, …)
- A few minor navigation bugs that I haven't ironed out yet since I changed the UI to meet a bigger size screen.
- Required Adobe Air runtime (50MB download, you may wonder why it takes a while to install)
To Install just visit this page and install straight from the website;
- Then click open after downloading and the installer will start the installation process.

This is a pretty neat tool. I'm curious what parts of it you are
using specifically that don't seem available on the WebUI or maybe is
easier to do with this. Just so I can take a look at them myself
instead of poking around and trying to find the hidden gems.
Thanks for something new to play with though!

Well the biggest difference between the WebUI and RemoteAdmin is the ability to have it on your mobile device while connected through a VPN or Wifi.
I am not trying to compete with the WebUI, as I only want to complement it. A few items do overlap but I feel like my implementations are very basic compared to the WebUI which could equate to an easy to understand interface.
One of the features that stands out is the facts viewer. The ability to dynamically generate lists and graphs based on facts is pretty cool.
A few weeks ago I created a puppet fact that reported the amount of time a system was out of sync compared to the local time server. With RemoteAdmin I was easily able to see all the systems and the amount of time they were out of sync using this fact. I then was able to email this list to a coworker so we could begin fixing the systems.
I have posted some pictures of this scenario in the desktop screenshot section of http://www.remoteadmin.co
Down the road I plan to add IPMI controls as I envision somebody standing in a huge server room of unlabeled systems wondering where xyz system is located. It would be easy to whip out a mobile device, click the UID light button, and then just search for the blinking blue light. Moreover, if the user has location facts about the systems location (Room, Isle, Rack, position) that would also help since you can easily search for that from RemoteAdmin.
