SCALE - did anyone go?

Hi all,

Just a quick reminder that I (and presumably some others ;P) would love to
hear about conferences you've been to where Foreman was discussed, or
should be present, or maybe should even have speakers.

On that topic - how was SCALE 14x? Did anyone from our community go? Should
we think about being there in future?

If anyone wishes to send feedback off-list, that's welcome too. The more
the merrier

Cheers,

I attended, and presented a talk about Pulp in the "sysadmin" track. I
asked a question along the lines of "How many of you are familiar with
foreman?", and at least 15 hands went up out of about 60 people.

It is a very impressive conference with over 3k attendees and lots of great
talks. Each time slot had several talks I wish I could have attended. The
quality of presentations was on-par with other major conferences. Most
talks were recorded:

The event was born out of a local LUG many years ago, and that heritage is
still tangible in the general culture of the conference. I noticed that
SCALE attracts an audience that is more purely made up of current and
aspiring engineers than, for example, Red Hat Summit or LinuxCon. At the
latter two, I encountered more managers and VPs who were sniffing out new
products and general changes in the direction of the industry. SCALE seemed
to be overwhelmingly engineers who want to learn about the nuts and bolts
of current and new tech. I don't think that is necessarily good or bad, but
it's different.

Many people commented throughout the weekend that SCALE had better gender
and racial diversity than many other conferences. There were also a lot of
local students. I suspect both of those are related to the low price ($90
at the door, with discounts for registering in advance).

I definitely recommend doing a foreman talk at SCALE.

I have applied with foreman <-> OpenSCAP, alas it wasn't accepted (as there
was someone else from RedHat, with a talk about OpenSCAP).
I think we should be there in the future.

Hi all,

Just a quick reminder that I (and presumably some others ;P) would love to
hear about conferences you’ve been to where Foreman was discussed, or
should be present, or maybe should even have speakers.

On that topic - how was SCALE 14x? Did anyone from our community go?
Should we think about being there in future?

If anyone wishes to send feedback off-list, that’s welcome too. The more
the merrier
