[scl.org] sclo-ror42: Ruby on Rails 4.2 packages available for testing

If anybody's interested in RPMs for Ruby on Rails 4.2, I'd love some
help testing a new software collection released in the CentOS SIG. This
can be used as a dependency for Foreman in future.

It's probably best to test this independently of Foreman for now, with
regular or lightweight Rails apps. Details in the e-mail below.

That said - for the brave, there's a branch of Foreman that runs on RoR
4.2 in my fork at
https://github.com/domcleal/foreman/commits/13244-rails42, and by
changing tfm's "enable" scriplet to activate sclo-ror42 it can be made
to run hackily on a package installation. I've not yet tried a proper
package build of Foreman using it.

I'll be working soon on pulling changes from that branch back into
develop. If anybody else would like to start, please let me know.

Cheers,
Dominic

··· -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: [scl.org] sclo-ror42: Ruby on Rails 4.2 packages available for testing Date: Mon, 22 Feb 2016 14:17:16 +0000 From: Dominic Cleal To: sclorg@redhat.com CC: centos-devel@centos.org

I’m happy to announce test packages of a new Ruby on Rails 4.2
collection are available from the CentOS Software Collections SIG.

These are modelled on previous collections (e.g. rh-ror41) and provide
all of Rails with full asset compilation support, plus extras such as
jQuery (1.11.2 & 2.1.3). It depends on the rh-ruby22 and v8314 collections.

To install it, run:

yum install centos-release-scl
yum install --enablerepo=centos-sclo-sclo-testing --nogpgcheck sclo-ror42

Activate and use the collection with “scl enable sclo-ror42”.

https://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup/SCLo/RubyOnRails contains
tips on using the RoR collection(s) with Passenger.

Please test the collection out and report bugs to
https://github.com/domcleal/sclo-ror42/issues or on this thread.

Packages are now available at

depend on the sclo-ror42 collection. Links are there to the git repos too.
