Should content repos of type file sync to smart proxies?

I’ve created a content file repository and synced from the external source. On the satellite I can retrieve the files using the base URL below, but if I try on a Smart proxy I just get 404.

Should file repos sync to proxies?

This functionality was not enabled until Katello 3.6 I believe. Given 3.7 an 3.8 are in the works I would recommend starting an upgrade plan to move off an unsupported version.
