Storeconfigs database with multiple puppetmasters

Hey All,

I have been setting up foreman/puppet and using it (and all works well). I
now need to add a second puppet server (and eventually many more). Im
using the foreman database as the storeconfigs database. When I add the
secondary puppet servers do I just point them to the same mysql foreman
database? I plan on having each puppet server host their own CA which I
dont see any problem with… im just confused about the storeconfigs
database.

Thanks

Foreman does not require to share the db with puppet, and imho, unless
you need the storeconfig functionality, you should not activate it.

Foreman is designed to work with multiple puppetmasters, though
installing the smart proxies on each puppet master.

BTW: in the upcoming 0.5 release, Foreman can manage ceteralized CA
server, while having multiple Pupptemasters without a CA, so all
clients can talk to all servers.

Ohad, Thanks for the quick reply,

If I want/need to use storeconfigs can I point the remote puppet servers to
the single foreman database? Or is that not advised?

Thanks for your help!

I just want to say thanks for foreman… It is making my life easier…
not too mention the simplicity of getting it running.

I don't know if I've taken the time to thank Ohad in public for the changes
to
0.5 to allow a centralized CA server but I want to do so now as they will
dramatically improve the way we use Foreman and make life a lot easier.

I, and my team, really appreciate all the little changes and fixes in 0.5!

Sure, it can work, main issue is usually if you have latency etc.
