Unable to provision discovered host via API with multiple interfaces

Problem:
Unable to use discovered_hosts API to provision server with multiple nics

Foreman and Proxy versions:
Foreman 1.20.2
Discovery 14.0.1

Trying to do PUT/PATCH of something like this to /api/v2/discovered_hosts/470 to setup system and start provisioning. I am able to use the exact same settings if I use the foreman webpage discovered hosts provisioning manually. I am not totally sure of the JSON format required for provisioning multiple interfaces, the foreman discovery docs are very vague on using the API to provision a discovered host but it seems to sort of match what I see in the logs that the discovery webpages are doing.

Hello,

discovered host endpoint is just “edit host” endpoint, it really forwards the data to it, so you should be able to edit pretty much anything you want. However NIC changes are causing issues, for example changing subnet usually don’t work. These are workflows we haven’t tested.

Please describe exactly what you are trying to achieve - which fields and flags you want to change, what are the expected results and what you see (that’s what I see I guess).

What we are doing is using the discovery image to boot systems via PXE. They come in to Discovered Hosts via DHCP and PXE and sit in Discovered Hosts waiting for instructions. We have multiple networks on each host, the hosts boot off the management network interface we use for provisioning, patching etc.

Then, we have an inhouse website that we use for choosing a discovered host, setting all the provisioning info including the desired network info, static IP’s for each interface, if they should be bonded, etc

That system needs to be able to send a post with full network setup of all interfaces with a discovered_host provisioning request, including moving the DHCP network to Static IP, setting up the other network(s) with static IP’s etc.

If I understand what you are saying, a discovered_host provision request via the API can’t setup any other network interfaces.

It seems that since you can pretty much do all of that via the Foreman webpages, that we could do it as well, but the disovery api apparently does not work.

Thanks for nice info, however I was more interested in what changes are you actually performing for NICs. Ideally if you could provide me info about NICs detected after discovery (all their flags and fiels: MAC, IP, provision, primary, identifier, subnet, domain) and then what is the desired state. I am gonna simulate this in my environment but I need to know what exactly you change. Maybe primary/provision flag change could cause it if I need to bet.
