Upgrade path from 1.16.1

Hello,

This might actually be a question with a fast answer: can I upgrade from foreman 1.16.1 to 1.24.2 in one straight shot, or do I need to upgrade incrementally version by version?

Thanks for your time!

I am presently running: foreman 1.16.1
with the following plugins installed:
bastion 6.1.5
foreman-tasks 0.10.9
foreman_ansible 1.5.2
foreman_docker 3.2.1
foreman_remote_execution 1.3.7
katello 3.5.1.1

Hi,

I am not sure about plain Foreman, but since you are running Katello, the answer is: No, you can’t (or at least definetly should not).
It is very much recommended to upgrade one version at a time, both for Foreman and Katello.

Regards

Afterthought, since I’m not sure I made that point clear: Foreman and Katello can (and in most cases need to) be upgraded at the same time, but you have to do it one version at a time.
Just follow the Upgrade instructions from the Katello documentation for each version (starting with the upgrade to 3.6) and you should be good to go.

Also highly recommended to take a vm snapshot/backup at every version, just in case one upgrade fails you don’t need to restart the whole process.
