Cannot add location in Foreman 1.22

Problem:

I cannot add the location in Foreman 1.22, I am getting the following (SQL-) error message:

**Oops, we're sorry but something went wrong** The single-table inheritance mechanism failed to locate the subclass: 'JobTemplate'. This error is raised because the column 'type' is reserved for storing the class in case of inheritance. Please rename this column if you didn't intend it to be used for storing the inheritance class or overwrite Template.inheritance_column to use another column for that information.

I have upgraded from Foreman 1.21 using foreman-rake db:migrate.

I am running Foreman in a Docker container.

Anyone who can help?

It sound like you have previously installed and then removed the foreman remote execution plugin, which has left some leftovers in your database.
You could try cleaning it up by running the following inside foreman-rake console:

 Template.where(type: 'JobTemplate').delete_all

If you can’t get the console started as well due to the same error, you may need to clean it directly from the database using something like:

DELETE FROM templates WHERE type = 'JobTemplate';

ah, makes sense, since that model is defined in the remote execution plugin which is missing.
you will need to drop that table directly from the database in this case i’m afraid, as well as the template_invocation_input_values table

I dropped those two tables

Try running
Template.where(type: 'JobTemplate').delete_all again, hopefully they will get deleted this time

Wouldn’t it be easier to start from scrach and kill the foreman database? I don’t have important settings in there, so it wouldn’t be a problem for me.

Oh! In that case, we can just drop the database and recreate it by running the following commands:

foreman-rake db:drop
foreman-rake db:create
foreman-rake db:migrate
foreman-rake db:seed

Your commands didn’t work, it was going to drop the ‘postgres’ database.

I dropped and recreated the database on Postgresql and run foreman-installer again. Now it’s working. Thanks again.
