running foreman 3.6 / katello 4.8 and would like to know if it’s possible to change the name of a smart proxy that I have already connected to the master? I.e would like to change hostname on the proxy VM, then change this in the master.
Is this possible without breaking things? Or would I need to remove it and re-generate certs then reconnect?

I’m also curious about this as this is something my group would like to do as well. Did you go through with the hostname change yet? If so, do you have any advice? And if not, can anyone provide us some guidance on this?

No i did not. As ‘luck’ would have it, I needed to replace the stack with EL8 so I set all names correctly then, but would still like to know the answer in case needed for any reason in future
For what it’s worth, one of my teammates did this while I was on vacation. When I asked him about it later, he couldn’t remember the specifics but it seemed to work without much trouble. He changed the hostnames of the smart proxies and updated any references to them that he could find in the Foreman UI. Sorry I can’t provide much more detail than that.
