Can it be, that you have selected the “Hostgroup” first and then changed the Location (or Organization) and then switched to Operatingsystem tab and recognized this issue?
@Bernhard_Suttner I think you’re onto something here. If I Navigate from Configure >> Host Groups >> Actions >> Create Host. And then access the Operating System tab, all fields are pre-filled.
However, Location is empty under Host, selecting this indeed wipes most presets from the Operating System tab.
The host build process appears to work correctly when selecting the site first from the top menu (next to the organisation selector).
All I’m left with then is the default PXE Loader being wrong, I’ve looked, but not found a way to have this default to what it should be.
well, there is a simple workaround: change the architecture again and select the os. Or, go from “Hosts → Create Host” menu and enter the fields from top to bottom which results in selecting Organization, then Location, then Hostgroup and everything will be fine.
It’s been a few months, and I’m back at the same point. Removing and reselecting the architecture will wipe all the Host Group template settings, which is a pain as this is why we want presets, right?
Your suggestion to go from Hosts → Create Host is exactly what I’m doing. The issue I have is that if in the header the value “Any location” is selected, then the location will still be empty even if for the use Host Group there’s only one Location selected. Selecting the location on the first tab of the Host Creation form, then wipes out all the prefilled data parsed from the used Host Group. IMHO this feels like a bug.
The only working method I have is to select the location in the header, then navigate to Hosts => Host Groups => Create host. However, this is easily overlooked and will trip a number of users up, until they learn it the hard way.
