Foreman installation help on Oracle Linux 6

Hi,

I am new to foreman & try to install the latest version on an Oracle Linux
6 server.
I followed the steps from foreman installation guide (
Foreman :: Manual).

When I ran foreman-installer, I got the following error message (from
installation log):

Can anyone help?

You need to install the OracleLinux SCL… Follow the instructions in this
Doc… no ULN subscription seems to be required.

Thanks Sean,

I installed Oracle SCL followed the instruction from the document.
I also checked ruby193 is installed with the following command:

#yum list installed | grep ruby193

rhscl-ruby193-epel-6-x86_64.noarch 1-2 @foreman

I still get the same error message when I ran foreman-installer.

Is this the right package for ruby193?

Sorry, and you need to enable the ruby193 scl.

Sean,

One more thing, the server /etc/scl/prefixes directory is empty.

Do I missing something or it is ok for Oracle Linux?

I might suggest cleaning up and starting again. For instance, yum remove
puppet* ruby193* foreman*, then install the release packages, install
foreman-installer and re-run the installer. I wasn't able to reproduce
your errors specifically, but I did encounter some errors after trying to
install ruby193 on my own, the running the installer. After starting
clean, the installer ran smoothly for me.

Once I ran

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

I ran this command before install foreman-installer.

the server has puppet agent installed as part of build.
will that be an issue?

Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can help you more, I saw your errors, but the
message seems to be have been deleted now. Anyway, for testing, I used a
Foreman system to build OEL6 vm (which begins with minimal os install, epel
repo, updates to latest, installs puppet agent). From there, I removed
puppet, installed scl_utils, installed the OEL SCL repo, PuppetLabs release
package, Foreman release package, foreman-installer, and ran the installer
with out issue.

It seems like once you have the OEL scl repo and scl_utils installed the
foreman-installer will do the rest as far as getting the ruby193 scl
enabled and installed properly.
