Topics I would like to share:

  1. Make Foreman running on x86 machine possible to deploy/provision aarch64 machine with ease
    • Modify foreman-installer to download & place bootloader binary for aarch64 machine
    • Modify Foreman core and smart-proxy logic related to TFTP&DHCP configuration & binary handling (include GUI)
      • Ticket: not yet created
  2. Fix Redifsh power operation bug

Just to add to the topic of aarch64 as I will not make it to the meeting: A manual solution with the concept of bootloader-universe already exists and should make it possible, but perhaps it is time to move this further and finally go for the Netboot files.

Thanks for comment. I haven’t recognized bootloader-universe idea.

Yes, putting binary & changing DHCP configuration by hand works. However I feel it’s better to have these operation dealt with by Foreman.

Hello,

Quick summarization of yesterday’s meetup.

  • Vanaou from Fujitsu presented their efforts and plans for implementing new features and bugfixing in Foreman.
  • The Foreman team will take a look at these PRs and will do the refinement and reviews in the next possible cycle.
  • There is an abandoned effort for Smart Proxy regarding preparing directories and boot files for Ubuntu/Debian. We should start it again, ensuring that Atix people have merge permissions in Smart-Proxy, not just in Foreman core.
  • We are moving the meeting to the first Tuesday of the month instead of the first Wednesday, as many people are not available on this day and they’d like to join.
