As the page notes, this is mostly documenting the pre-1.1 API.

Have a look at the hosts docs in the current API documentation, e.g.
viewing a host gives a host_parameters hash in the JSON response:
http://theforeman.org/api/apidoc/hosts/show.html
The full API v1 docs (for Foreman 1.1+) are linked from the API link in
the black header bar of the web site:

/api/hosts/fqdn/parameters <-- full rest / CRUD
