I went yesterday to a local meetup of the group “Grafana and Friends” and there was was a short talk or perhaps I should better name it call to action from a doctoral research project in the area of sustainable IT.
In a first research the group already found interesting data but had to recognize all the lecture was of scientific nature, so now they want practical data from professionals. And as I know here in the community we have many professionals especially in the field of IT operations, I thought I share the survey here.
Green Software Metrics: An Enterprise Survey
This survey is part of a doctoral research project by Manuel Steinberg at Munich University of Applied Sciences. This survey investigates how organizations approach the measurement of energy consumption, resource usage, and carbon emissions in software systems. It is intended for professionals involved in decision-making, development, operation, or analysis of enterprise software.
The questionnaire examines motivations, organizational capabilities, and current measurement practices related to Green Software Metrics. Your responses will help identify organizational challenges, capability gaps, and differences across technical, managerial, and non-technical roles. Unless stated otherwise, questions refer to the software systems you primarily work with or are most familiar with.
The questionnaire comprises 26 questions in total; however, depending on your responses, not all questions may be shown.
The survey takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
The results of this survey will be published in a scientific publication.
This survey is anonymous.
