How to View Diffs in Foreman 1.2.0-1 with Puppet 2.6.18-3

All –

I am interested in using the "View Diff" feature as shown in Dominic
Cleal's Quickstart demonstration video, but am not currently seeing the
option when I view a report from a client. I am running Foreman 1.2.0-1
with Puppet 2.6.18-3. Any insight would be most helpful and appreciated.

Thanks,
– Adam

You'll need at least Puppet 2.7.8 to get this feature, as prior to that,
Puppet wouldn't send file diffs through reports:

http://docs.puppetlabs.com/puppet/2.7/reference/release_notes.html#puppet-278

Newer Puppet packages are available on yum.puppetlabs.com, though beware
that if you update between Puppet 2 and 3 there are a few config changes
to make. Re-running the installer is an easy way to do this, as it will
detect the currently installed version.

Thanks, Dominic! Not sure I want to venture too far away from EPEL at
present, but good to know. Appreciate your quick reply, as always!

If things go as planned then EPEL will have 2.7 soon enough.

Don't forget you also need to add show_diff=true (or --show_diff on the
cmdline) for diffs to show up, as it defaults to false above a certain
Puppet version

Thanks, Greg. I went ahead and added it to the 'puppet.conf' template that
I'm distributing to all of my clients so I'll be ready to enjoy the feature
once EPEL rolls out Puppet > 2.7.8.
