Hi,
is it already possible to use username / password authentication to access the HTTPS-based git repository?
If this is not the case, I'm happy that someone provides some information how to do it. I would then have a look on it.

Are you referring the to the foreman repos hosted on GitHub[1] ?
You should be able to do it if you have a github account:
https://help.github.com/articles/https-cloning-errors/

Yes - just set the URL to "
https://username:password@github.com/username/repository.git" and it should
work.
