Openvox client?

Hello,

Im wondering if openvox client is compatible with foreman+puppet setup?
Im having some difficulties with getting the puppet core agent binaries so i want to transition over to using the openvox fork of this. So if i install this on clients and do the client side configs, should this just work with current foreman+puppet setup (foreman 3.13.1 at the moment)?

My thinking is that i can then sync openvox client repos to foreman and create CVs to be part of my current CCVs and just use ansible to remove puppet agent and install openvox client…

(I have been following the discussions on puppet replacement with openvox in foreman, but it seems this is still some way off, and i dont really want to wait with replacing the clients if this is safe to do now. I also realize that openvox will probably not be compatible with puppet in the future but I dont think this will be an issue as by then we will hopefully have foreman+openvox server)

Hi there!
(Reading is helpful)

I think it’s basically the same story, so also the client might need parts of the server implementation

Yes, at the current state it should be a drop-in replacement. If you also want to switch it on Foreman or PuppetDB to OpenVoxDB there are some hints on Installing OpenVox.

Thanks for that reference. I should have checked openvox site again before making this post, but then again, maybe more people are wondering.

If i get time before summer vacation i will test replacing puppet agent on a few servers to see how it pans out.
