Pulp OSTree plugin archival planned

Hello community,

The Pulp OSTree plugin’s removal is being planned:

The OSTree plugin has essentially been unmaintained for years and was never really finished. However, I know that it has had some users via Katello over the years.

Consider this a call to action for anyone still using the plugin. Is anyone interested in picking up maintenance of it? If so, then Katello can keep the integration code to continue supporting it as a Katello content type.

If we do not find anyone to maintain it, we will need to consider removing our Katello OSTree integration code and documentation around the OSTree plugin. I do not anticipate that the code would be removed right away, especially to help give users time to get off of Pulp OSTree while continuing to use newer Katello. However, it’s likely that the Pulp OSTree RPM will go away from newer releases if the plugin goes unmaintained, so the support will become “at-your-own-risk”.

If anyone is interested in picking it up, we can help guide you to the right people to introduce you to the Pulp community and their practices.

Thanks!
