Present: @ekohl, @iballou, @ColeHiggins2, @cintrix84
First meeting of the year and everyone just returned from the holiday break, still getting back to the regular schedule.
Foreman 3.14
We’re getting closer to the release work with about 3 weeks left before the circus starts (see Foreman 3.14 Schedule and Planning). @ColeHiggins2 has agreed to be the release owner again.
This is also a general call to all developers to start wrapping up features that you want to land in 3.14.
Foreman 3.13
No issues for Foreman itself reported, though plugin broken since 3.13 · Issue #26 · theforeman/foreman_dhcp_browser · GitHub is some Zeitwerk / Rails 7 fallout.
Foreman 3.12
No updates
Katello 4.17
This is the version beyond current nightly. It will bump Pulp again to its latest version
Katello 4.16
The team is looking for a release owner.
We’ve also seen some instability in the bats tests for Katello where nightly sometimes breaks on it. This doesn’t always happen so it doesn’t block always, but frequent enough that it’s annoying. Users in the real world may see the same thing and @iballou expressed a desire to resolve this.
Overall ownership
We discussed the release owner role. Beyond the next version (Foreman 3.14/Katello 3.16) it may be wise to rotate more often and also combine both ownership roles. One suggestion was to then make the release owner responsible for 2 releases (like 3.15 & 3.16). This gives more people the experience to do releases, but also some continuity. Since we were just a small group, no decision was made but we’ll likely continue these conversations in future meetings.
