Ubuntu 20.04 security and updates sync fail with error : 403, message=ruleengineerror

Problem:
Hello team,

When i want to sync Ubuntu 20.04 security and updates repos, i have this error :
403, message=‘ruleengineerror’, url=URL(‘http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/g/golang-1.20/golang-1.20-src_1.20.3-1ubuntu0.1~20.04.1_all.deb’)

I tested to download manually the package, it’s OK .
I retried to sync the repos but it’s always KO.

Katello 4.2.1 implies pulpcore 3.14, and pulp_deb 2.14.1. These versions are really old and unsupported.

We will need to test to see if this affects a current version. If we cannot reproduce it there, we won’t be pursuing this further.

In addition to what @quba42 said, HTTP 403 (forbidden) and “ruleengineerror” sound pretty much like some corporate proxy/antivirus system is blocking access to at least that one package in the repo.
You might want to get in contact with whoever runs your corporate proxy to check this and get it resolved.

If it is a firewall blocking this package, I can still add the following relevant information:

• There is no way to exclude individual packages from a sync.
• You can work around this by manually uploading the package in question to Katello (you can create an otherwise empty dummy repo for this). When you then re-sync your original repo, the Package is already present in Pulp, and the sync will not attempt to re-download it, thus allowing the sync to continue past the point it is currently failing on.
• Once you have successfully synced you could exclude the forbidden package from your Katello content views by creating a content view filter (I am not sure APT repo content view filters exist in Katello 4.2.1 though).
• It is up to you to decide if this workaround violates some security policy of your corporate environment.

FWIW I couldn’t reproduce this on a Katello 4.11 setup. The repository synced without problems.

My problem was solved by our network team. They had add an exception in our proxy server on the ubuntu archive URL.
