Problem: Receiving the following error when attempting to deploy to VMWare

Failed to create a compute ******.com GFDC (VMware) instance scott-buckner.usanainc.com: InvalidArgument: A specified parameter was not correct: podSelectionspec.storagePod

I’ve used the following 2 patches to fix other issues with vmware deployments

Expected outcome: Deploy a VM

Foreman/Katello versions: 1.17 / 3.6

Thanks I will start taking a look here and see if i I can replicate it. Does your storage pod have DRS enabled on it?

From what I can see it’s not enabled, but I’m double checking with our VMWare Admin.

Just double checked and it’s not enabled on most. The pod I was attempting to use has it turned off.

Just a quick update. Only deploying to a pod dies. If I select the exact datastore I want to use it works.

Did an update to 1.17.1-1 this morning and tested. Still unable to deploy using storage pods. Only works specifying the exact datastore. Here are the log entries.

I do not see a bug upstream in Redmine or downstream in Bugzilla for this. So currently right now it looks like it only supports Storage Pods that have DRS enabled. I can file an issue for this and get it triaged if you like?

Thank you for looking into that. I’m going to have our VMWare admin enable DRS and ensure it’s working on my side and I’ll let you know. I should be able to do it here in the next few hours. Thanks again for the help!
