Vmware compute resources: limit datasore selection to what's available in the cluster?

I notice that when I attempt to create a VM, and go to edit VM properties I
choose the cluster the VM is to be installed, then the Datastore selection
does not filter only available datastores to that cluster. I see
datastores that are not reachable by any hosts in that selected cluster.
Just to see what would happen when I choose an invalid datastore, I get
this error upon creation: Failed to create a compute Cluster1 (VMware)
instance test0826a.example.com: failed to create vm:
CannotAccessVmComponent: A component of the virtual machine is not
accessible on the host

Is this a known issue?

It looks like this is a known
issue: Feature #2113: Better VMWare Datastore UI - Foreman and may have been lost in
the shuffle. Is there perhaps another more recent issue that covers this,
or any discussion whatsoever? If not, please reply to that issue if you
also would like the datastore selection limit.

The entire VMWare integration could use an 'overhaul,' but yes, I very
badly want a filtered datastore list and datastore cluster support!
