Vmware provisioning with mac address

It does not seem possible to designate a mac address when provisioning a
vmware compute resource. I set one in the interface and it overrides it
upon creating the vm in vmware. Am I doing something incorrectly or is
this working as designed?

Regards,

Mike E.

This is working as designed. For vSphere and most compute resources,
Foreman expects to the compute resource itself to generate a MAC address
automatically when the VM is created, then it retrieves the value,
stores and uses it for DHCP etc.

You could file a feature request, similar to one we have for Libvirt
already (Feature #13089: Support specifying interface MAC address during VM creation - Foreman).
