Foreman - Puppet - Windows

Hi,

I'm using foreman with puppet. It works very good as far as we talk
about linux servers.

But now I've got some new Winows Servers which are also using puppet
(foreman).

I created those hosts in foreman and installed puppet on them.
everything is quiet good.

But can somebody here please tell me why I can't see any facts about
my windows servers?

For all my linux Servers I can see all the facts about the server by
selecting the host -> clicking the box facts on the right side under
details.

For my windows Servers it just shows:

Not entries found

Any idea?

Did you configure the puppet windows client to send reports?

Note: windows is not fully supported but most of it works. You should be able to see the facts.

Hi.

Didn't know that the client has to be configured to send out the
facts…

Do you know where to do it?

I'll google meanwhile. Maybe I find some information.

I think its just reports=true.

When I get a chance I test the new windows puppet installer on my windows system and see what I get.

OK.

I checked my puppet.conf.

report = true

is set correctly…

But ckecking the $vardir/reports directory on the master I can't find
any reports from my windows clients… hmm.

Maybe I have to run puppet agent --test with any option like --reports
or something like that.

Does anybody know of there is an option to turn on reports by running
puppet?

OK I found out that

puppet agent --test --report

seems to do something, although it's not listed as correct option for
puppet agent (http://docs.puppetlabs.com/man/agent.html)

But still no reports for my client…
That's strange. I'll google for some more information about that.

I finally found the reports for the windows servers under the reports
section in foreman.

But those reports aren't shown under the details -> facts

I guess reports are working, but are you uploading your facts?
(normally this is done via the ENC script).
if you do, can you double check the facts are on your master?
(normally /var/lib/puppet/yaml/facts)

We are running puppetmaster and foreman on the same machine. So we
also tried following:

rake puppet:import:hosts_and_facts RAILS_ENV=production

Same output with no effect.

so i guess you are not importing the facts to foreman correctly…
double check that your enc script, or a cron job that uploads the
facts…

Hey,

My Server Admin just told me that we are using follwing version of
foreman:

commit 331e9bce1af5afe1afaa4812100e420e6b5dbb63
Author: Ohad Levy <ohadlevy@gmail.com>

So it's quiet old… Could it be that this version is not supporting
facts with windows machines?

This version is running great so far so we would update just in case
it's really necessary you know?

And sorry for that late information about the old version -.-

double check that your enc script, or a cron job that uploads the
facts…

Does anybody know of there is an option to turn on reports by running

For all my linux Servers I can see all the facts about the server by

For my windows Servers it just shows:
