Foreman users @ Puppetconf (17th-21st Oct) event?

Hi all

I've been hearing that quite a few people will be heading to Puppetconf in
just over a week. While I won't be there in person, I figured I might try
to use my Magic Community Powers (:P) to see if we can organise something,
short-notice-style.

So, if you're going to be there, let's hear you! We can try to do a meetup
during the conference time itself, or organise some drinks/food on one of
the evenings. Let me know (this thread, or in a private reply is fine) what
you'd like to do, and what times/dates work, and I'll try to make it happen.

Cheers!

··· -- Greg IRC: gwmngilfen

I'll be there from Wednesday (10/19) afternoon through Friday night (redeye
back to the east coast). Wouldn't mind meeting up with some people while
I'm there.

I will be working the booth and would love to meet up. I'm in the booth
5:30-7:30 on Wednesday night - how about meeting up somewhere at 8pm?

Count me in. I will be at the dev summitt and help with the examples42 booth.

I get in to San Diego around 4:30pm PST. I'll find the RedHat booth around
7pm and meet up with everyone.

That makes two public and one private reply - surely 3 people is enough for
a meetup!

Does anyone know a good place to go? I can do promotion from here, and I
can try to arrange some flyers to hand out to other Foreman folks once we
know that… (learned that lesson at Summit :P)

Greg

I am also attending PuppetConf (and IcingaCamp). Not sure if can make it as
I am there with colleagues and not sure what else is already planned, but I
will try at least.

If you see someone in a Foreman-T-Shirt, it will probably be me!

Hey everyone, sorry I fell off the conversation, I filtered foreman users
and forgot to exclude this one. :disappointed:

Meet me at the red hat booth at 7:30! I will print flyers, Greg. See you
tonight!

The Fashion Valley and Mission Valley malls are very close to the
convention center. I don't personally recommend the Tilted Kilt (It's a bit
of a smarmy place for a meetup), but feel free to vote for whichever
bar/restaurant that seems fun from either of those malls.

I've heard great things about Lazy Dog (http://www.
lazydogrestaurants.com/img/content/Menu-Mission-Valley-
Fall-201609212016041735-mc.pdf) - but my concern is it's a bit on the
pricey side.
The other option is Yard House, which has more taps than you can count,
including some of the best local San Diego beers (I highly recommend!).
http://www.yardhouse.com/locations/ca/san-diego/san-diego-mission-valley-mall/8363
These are both 1-1.5 miles from the convention center, which is a 15-20
minute walk. Which would you all rather?

Oh, I think there's a few T-shirts around now… we gave out hundreds at
Summit

I'll see what I can do about putting some flyers together today - shall we
say meet at the RH booth at ~7.30 to walk over together, stragglers can
meet at the Yard House around 8? Does someone want to book ahead (I would
but that bombed on me at Summit as the venue couldn't contact me overseas
for some odd reason)?

Greg

Thanks Ashton! Check with Mandy, she may have printed some too

stuff, tag it #theforeman or mention @ForemanProject and I'll see it. Wish

Wish I could make it to puppet conf this year, but sadly…

Ok, here's my first attempt to do something useful with Scribus. It's sized

I can re-render, so long as we're quick), could someone (Ashton? Chris?)
print some out?

If I were picking, the extra taps would sell me instantly - but it's not my
call

I'll need a decision by the end of tomorrow if I'm going to get anything
printed (no promises, even then :P)

It's something I'm slowly trying to make happen - I hope to have an
offering in place for people willing to run such a meetup in their area,
which will definitely involve co-ordinated promotion (our calendar[1],
tweets, G+, possible a paid Meetup account) and may include swag. If
you're up for that, lets talk!

In the meantime, feel free to (prublicly or privately) let me know where
you are in the world and I'll see if I know anyone else in your area

Cheers
Greg
